Character Education/PBIS
The Westchester school community takes pride in developing an environment that supports high expectations for student success. Through our school-wide Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports (PBIS) program, our Character Education work, and our Olweus Anti-bullying program, we have developed a common vision and language that is shared by all stakeholders to ensure that students are successful learners. Our school-wide expectations include the four "Be's" - be respectful, be responsible, be cooperative, and be safe - as well as our "Big E" for effort.
These expectations are used to promote and encourage positive behaviors throughout our school each day. As teachers build their own classroom communities, they reinforce these beliefs and practice what they look like in settings throughout the school. Through the use of our "Wildcat Paw" program, staff members recognize classes and individuals who demonstrate our school-wide expectations. These "Wildcat Paw" classrooms are celebrated each week on our "What's Up Westchester" weekly video.
